I have a question about the rare monsters.

If I kill the Bluesang and the Aspidochelon and get their trophies, will they still appear? You said you just stole from them to get Damascus Steel and Scarletite.

admin said...

If you already have their trophies, then they won't appear again :(

How do you combine the items

War God Bands can also be Poached very easily, only took me about 20 poaches total for 4 bands, not too bad considering, you can also get Scarletites by Poaching Emeralditans in the same area but this took considerably longer considering there are only 3 in the whole area..took me about 2 hours to get 2 of them. Damascus steel you can again Poach off Bunes in the Pharos if you killed Bluesang already best if you try and chain them tho, which involves ALOT of running and getting smacked around by various other monsters, not recommended if your characters are lower level, and they have that annoying pulse move when they are HP Crit which can get irritating so be prepared for it... anyway, back to hunting Etems, G/l with your Tournesol :D

The scarletite can actually be poached from the Emeraldtitans more easily than I thought. I marked the location of each one on a map and then I ran in a loop from The Slumbermead, then Echoes of the Road, then Vale of Lingering Sorrow, then Hope's Reach and back to The Slumbermead. Be sure to target ONLY the Emeraldtitans so that the chain doesn't break. I got all the Scarletite I needed after a 30-chain. It only took half an hour.

to spawn vorres, do you have to bring a dark elemental towards a certain place?

Anonymous said...

yes ... when you enter the area .. u must see a dark elemental ... if u cant find it , just exit the area and re-enter ... keep doing untill u find the dark elemental , first his HP will be green and he wont attack u ... make any magic infront of him and his HP will turn red , and he will start attacking you ... MAKE SURE YOU DONT KILL HIM ! hold R2 and run away from him but stay in the area ... keep running untill the vorres spawns ... then its up to you if u want to kill him or steel him .. i recommend steeling him (without killing him)then moving tow areas away then getting back and repeat the whole thing ... i got all what i need from him by this way ... i only have a problem with high arcana :s if anybody have a better way to get them .. please post it ...

Anonymous said...

Hi.. I have this one problem, even if I sell the things for the serpentarius in the order you have written (3 High Arcana + 12 Snake Skin + 6 Serpent Eye), I only get one serpentarius :/!..
What am I doing wrong?

admin said...

1 high arcana + 4 snake skin + 2 serpent eye = 1 serpentarius

Anonymous said...

u dont need to get 6 high arcanas for the tournesol...thats way too much work...theres a trick to using the bazaar...when making the necessary items to make the tournesol, u can overlap the high arcana to make the emperyal soul and the serpentarius at the same time...so technically, u only need 3 high arcana to make the sunflower. they both require 1 high arcana right? so, just simply sell the snakeskin, serpent eye, soul powder, wargods band, and 1 high arcana. badabing badaboom u got an emperyal soul and a serpentarius...no joke try it.

Anonymous said...

ive yet to test this myself, but a friend of mine who beat yiazmat said you can get scarletite at a ten percent chance in the final fishinig area

Anonymous said...

scarletite/adamantite each have a 50% chance of being the perfect score item at the final fishing area but there's about a 10% chance of getting a perfect score. have fun.

What "anonymous" guy said about getting the serpentarius and empyreal soul with one high arcana is CRAP, don't waste your time...it's useless!

Anonymous said...

actually you can get the empyreal soul, the gemsteel, and the serpentarius using only one high arcana.

It is possible to use one high arcana for the serpentarius and the empyreal soul. I have tested this and if you do not believe, then might i suggest browsing through youtube for a videos in which the poster creates the tournesol. It is almost guaranteed that they will display this method of forging in which one high arcana is use.

Well, like some of you I have spent a few hours now on websites looking at all the things I've done on the game I wish I wouldn't have. I've figured out at least one thing that has REALLY helped me out. I have not seen this posted or in any Walkthrough yet. I do own the Special Addition Strategy Guide and have also looked through it's "tips" and do not see this either. I actually have two things to post to help from my past experiences so lets start with the main one.

1. Unlimited Damascus Steel (Damascus Nugget as it's drop refers it):
Yes, there is a way to do this and no it is not a joke. For all those out there that have looked on forum after forum reading posts of people saying "you can get it from steeling or poaching these 2 mobs, and NO they do not respawn" This way works, or at least has worked for me. Before I start let me say I have no Gameshark or Codebreaker or any other cheat enabled in the game. (I will explain why not to use ANY form of cheating on the game if you want to complete this game to the fullest on number two) So if you do I cannot say this is going to work for you. Here goes - Basically what we're doing is spawning Anchag a rare game mob that roams the area under special circumstances.

Note: You will need Thief's Cuffs to do this.
Step 1: Go to Paramina Rift
Step 2: Go to Paramina Rift/Karydine Glacier (if you own the map or have been in this section you'll spot it easily, just cycle through the map locations)
Step 3: Clear EVERYTHING in the zone. (yes, even the Wild Onions)
Step 4: Zone out of the area (I always go to Silverflow's End, but you could also go to Icebound Flow if you'd like)
Step 5: Zone back into Karydine Glacier, head south and you'll see him walking around on the ice.

Strategy: This guy is hard even though he's a lower level (depending on what level you are, I'm currently 37 on Vaan, 36 on Fran & 36 on Balthier but I was doing this as level 33,32,32 and it was tough at that level) He's all Warrior so he hits hard. This is what I do to make things a lot easier.
Spells: I ALWAYS have one guy casting Blind on him until it sticks. You will not believe how much easier the fight will be if you can get Blind to stick. I also have Haste on all party members to make things to a lot easier. I don't really cast it anymore but Protect is definately a helpful spell to have on all characters as well. In my gambits I have Curaga set for <50% health. I will post my Gambits at the bottom.
Technicks: Obviously the most important one for obtaining the Damascus Steel is Steal. Basically my thief is Fran. So she wears the cuffs and does nothing but steal until she obtains the item and then I flip-flop steal gambit to Attack after she gets it.

Here's what my gambits are. Take into consideration I do take a lot of time to over level and license my main characters because I for me it's more fun when I'm not struggling to kill a boss or if I get in a pinch and get swarmed by mobs I can make it out alive and not worry about when the last time I saved was.

Vaan:
1.Foe: lowest max HP - Attack
2. Ally: any - Ensuna
3. Ally: HP < 80% - Regen

-Nothing special and really I should put more, but this works just fine for me. Definitely not the best set-up ever, but I go with something until i feel I need to change/add.

Balthier:
1. Ally: any - Ensuna
2. Ally: any - Smelling Salts
3. Ally: status = Slow - Haste
4. Self - Libra
5. Ally: HP < 50% - Curaga
6. Foe: party leader's target - Attack

-Again, nothing special at all. A lot of what I have won't really be helpful in this fight but has definitely helped me out a lot in other battles leading up to and after this. Feel free to add/remove what you feel is better. Again, by no means is what I have the "best". I would definitely keep the Curaga in there though, seeing as this guy hits so hard.

Fran:
1. Ally: any - Ensuna
2. Ally: HP < 50% - Curaga
3. Ally: any - Smelling Salts
4. Ally: status = Slow - Haste
5. Foe: party leader's target - Steal
6. Foe: party leader's target - Attack

-This is what I mean when I said "flip-flip steal for attack" after stealing the desired item in a fight like this I always swap 5 and 6. After you steal an item you can't steal anything else so why waste that extra damage you could be dishing out. When I'm not fighting something hard and just running around I always have Steal above Attack. Any extra cash you can rake in the better. Not to mention I've fought some rare game not knowing it and come out of the fight going "glad I had my steal gambit up" I would have passed up some good loot.

**I'm going to bold this for all that are skimming through. The reason that I say "unlimited" is. After you obtain the steel and the fight is over, if you run back to Mt. Bur-Omisace and save your game. Run back to Paramina Rift/Karydine Glacier and do every step in order again, he will spawn again. I have 32 Damascus Steel in my inventory at the moment. Don't believe I'll need them all but what I don't use in end-game I can sell for a ton of gil. They vendor for 2188 so I feel it's definitely worth the time and effort I've put into it, plus it's become easy EXP and LP.

Okay on to the other reason I'm posting. I have actually played this game through 2 times now. I'm currently on my 3rd for this reason I decided I was going to use Codebreaker to play the first 2 times. The first time I was looking at the license board going "omg... this is lame it's going to take forever to get all that." so I used it then. The first time I played I didn't bother with end game I just wanted to beat it and see what I thought. The second time I used Codebreaker again, basically I just wanted to have fun and not worry about leveling and all that, I just wanted to get to the endgame stuff. Do all the Hunt Club marks, get all the Espers, Complete all the Billboard Hunts, all that fun stuff. Well.. You will be missing out on all that if you use any kind of cheat. I've spoken to a friend who used Gameshark and this happened to him as well. You will not be able to spawn all the hunt club marks, you will not be able to complete all the billboards hunts because they will simply not spawn. No matter how much time you take trying to spawn them. FRUSTRATING!! But, this was good because I can honestly say it's much more fun doing it without the cheats. Yes, it takes FOREVER to get leveled up and to licence, but once you can equip the Golden Amulet for Double LP and Embroidered Tippet for Double EXP, it's not that bad..

Zodiac Spear: Basically there's not awhole lot they've made in this game that can't be obtained some other way then the normal way. Such as the Zodiac Spear. Even if you've opened one of the 4 treasure chests you can still obtain it! It takes a lot of time but you can get it via a treasure chest in Henne Mines. This is an endgame way of getting it, here is a link. Thanks to the maker for taking the time to youtube it, I've done it on my past game and I have 3 (1 being from the main chest, 2 being this way of getting it. Believe me it takes hours but for some, it's worth having your main 3 players have them for farming/grinding) Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFjaDXgSc9U&feature=related

Hunt Club Tips: Also if you do the hunt club mobs to obtain the Zodiac spear/Ensanguined shield, the trick is to give all 3 NPC's the same amount of trophies. The Vendor will sell the items as well as once you've given all 30 trophies to the NPC's, talk to the Huntmaster conducting the competition it will trigger a cutscene and you will receive another special item! Here's how the trophies are given and no it does not matter what trophy is given to which NPC. I do advise one thing. Do not hand them in as you recieve them.. Keep ALL of your trophies in your Key Items until you have obtained all 30 then hand them in. This made it a bit easier to keep track of what mobs I've killed. You can check by going to Clan Primer >> Bestiary >> Rare Game, but know you'll have to go through all mobs, even ones that aren't a part of the competition, there are a total of 80 rare game. So keeping the trophies is an easy way to keep track.
Atak - 10
Blok - 10
Stok - 10

Hope this has helped some of you out there! Happy hunting!

By the way, I didn't post this for just you and me, feel free to copy/paste as you wish! No recognition necessary!

That huge post about Anchag is awesome. I just tested it out and it worked. Just need a few more Damascus Steel and I can get my Tornesol. :D

um.. listen up. about anchag. theres an easier way. then saving and blah blah blah...

yes. clear everything in the area. i went from the side where there is two zones right near each other. there is a dead bones and two(2) skeletons(whatever they're called).. okay.. now that you know what side to start from... work your way to the other side of the area, killing everything. this should be your route, (dead bones, 2 skeletons, gator, then to the right-2 more skeletons, then go left, 2 white dogs(whatever), 3 onions, then the one dog near the exit) now, DO NOT EXIT(ZONE) the area. right after killing the last dog near the zone, turn around, and run back to where those 2 skeletons were, just past that structure stickin out of the ground. and bam, anchag is there ALWAYS. now, just set all three characters to steal and heal(if youre low level) DO NOT KILL ANCHAG. run and zone out from the where the dead bones and the 2 seletons were. there is 2 zones there... zone out the one on the right(the one in front of you) then run straight and to the left and zone out of paramina rift completely. i forgot where it takes you but its the quickest 2 zones around. then come back, and go back to anchags area, kill all the enemies, repeat. do it exactly as i say and you will have all the damascus steels you could ever need in no time. This is the easiest way to get damascus steel.
